William Smeed (7852/7864/16304) was born about 1595 and was a resident of Rye, East Sussex, England.[1] He married firstly Mary Tuggett 12 Jan. 1619/20 in the Church of England, Rye, East Sussex, England.[2] He married secondly Esther Cacket 18 Aug. 1633 in the Church of England, Rye, East Sussex, England.[3] He married thirdly Judith Stoughton 25 Jan. 1634/5 in the Church of England, Cranbrook, Kent, England.[4] He died about 1636, aged about 41 years.

Judith Stoughton (7853/7865/16305) was baptized 3 July 1599 in the Church of England, Great Burstead, Essex, England, the daughter of Thomas Stoughton (15706/15730/32610) and Katherine —?— (15707/15731/32611). She married firstly John Denman about 1624.[5] She died between 1636 and 1639 in Dorchester (Boston), Suffolk, Massachusetts, aged 36 to 40 years.

William Smeed and Judith Stoughton had the following child:

i. William Smead (3926/3932/8152), baptized 13 Nov. 1635, Church of England, Rye, East Sussex, England.[6]

Mary Tuggett, the first wife of William Smeed, was baptized 24 Feb. 1599/1600 in the Church of England, Rye, East Sussex, England,[7] the daughter of George Tuggett and Elizabeth Dade. She was buried 20 May 1633 at the Church of England, Rye, East Sussex, England,[8] aged about 33 years.
